Since exploding on to the scene, the Amazon Kindle has been all the rage. This little instrument is packed with features, each designed to improve your reading experience. This second generation gadget has evolved even further this year and it really is transforming how people read books. But is it possible that this device provides too much convenience and technology? Probably not but just in case, I put together a list of some simple shortcuts that you can use with your Kindle 2...life continues to get easier thanks to Kindle 2
One of the most appealing attributes about your Kindle 2 wireless reader is the fact that your able to get free books. Books can be found at the Kindle store at Amazon.com. pretty obvious, right? Visit the Kindle store, search/type the word free and hit go. It will bring up a list of free and almost free books.
Shortcut #1
Do I you really need a computer to access the Kindle Library of books? No, you can also go straight to a Kindle store by pressing the alt key and then the home key.
The Kindle 2 is great for people on the go and would rather listen to a book than read one. If you want to change how you use your Kindle 2, then text to speech is great. There are three ways that you can change from Text to Speech...
Shortcut#2
The first way is simple while reading a book you can press the Aa text button and use the 5-way which will scroll to Text-to-Speech. Once there hit select. The second way is as easy to do as the first. While reading your book, you press the menu button and scroll to Start Text-to-Speech and hit select. The third way to change from Text-to-Speech is very simple, just press and hold down the shift and SYM keys. This allows you to turn it off and on.
Kindle 2 also offers the ability to change the Text-to-Speech setting so that you can change your experience when listening to the book...
Shortcut #3
Simply by pressing the AA button on your Kindle 2 you are able to change the speech rate of the reader or even change from a female to a male reader in the speech mode. The AS button also allows you to pause the Kindle 2. Another great feature is the ability to bookmark the page that you are on. To do this simple hit Alt B. To undo your book mark just hit Alt B. For some people line spacing is a problem with text so change it by hitting Alt Shift and press any number between 1 and 9 will change to the desired spacing you are comfortable with while reading the text.
Shortcut #4
Another great feature with the Kindle 2 is being able to look words up in the dictionary. It is so simple all that you have to do is to highlight the word and the definition will appear at the bottom of your screen.
Shortcut #5
You also have the ability to jump around in the book...For example you are on page 6 and you need or want information from page 9 you just need to press the page number 9 in this example and press 5-way to take to the page you need.
Shortcut #6
Now you have finished with your book samples and want to remove them from your Kindle 2...Just go to the home screen and use the 5-way to underline the sample that you wish to delete. Then move the 5-way to the left and select the delete.
Shortcut #7
For those that want to download a screen shot from a Kindle 2... simply press the Alt, Shift, and then G keys to get what you want to download to your computer. Note: While in the picture viewing mode you can zoom in with Q, zoom out with W, view your picture in full resolution with C, and reset zoom with E.
